Learn how to meditate in motion, simply, easily. T’ai Chi Chih (pronounced “Tie Chee Chuh”) provides a marvelous way to handle the stresses of daily life.
T’ai Chi Chih is similar to other martial arts but, unlike those, this low-impact movement strengthens from the inside out, so it’s less stressful on the bones, joints and muscles than more strenuous exercise. The gentle circular movements are done standing. Shifts in body position and stepping in coordination with arm movements offer a complete workout physically. The core of strength comes from the ground, improving balance, muscle strength and mobility.
Everything in life is impermanent. The current world situation is one where many are faced with the fallout of an uncertain future. T’ai Chi Chih practices can and will provide the calmness and grounding necessary to carry ourselves through the worry, loss, and anxiety that may be happening this season and in the coming year!
In this course, you will learn the 19 moves and one pose that is T’ai Chi Chih. As an ongoing class, newcomers will be shown the basics; those continuing will get a review and soon all the movements will be flowing.
The five basic qualities of T’ai Chi Chih are: Slowness, Evenness, Clarity, Balance, and Calmness.
It is the softness of this style of exercise that develops energy. Moving with softness means letting go of muscular tension, as well as mental tension. It emphasizes self-awareness, physical balance and energy flow. You don’t have to do them perfectly. T’ai Chi Chih is very user friendly!
