The act of writing can be cathartic, especially since we often store the pain of unpleasant memories in our bodies and in our minds. Writing can help us see a way forward towards healing and resilience. In this class, we’ll read examples of published writing, discuss ways to evoke memory and sensory detail on the page, and explore writing prompts. Each class will guide participants to focus on one aspect of their memories, including writing about place, music, family, friendship, and the body. Participants will be encouraged to share their work with the group, but this will not be required.
